Happy (Belated) Birthday to Me

My 25th Birthday Cake

Sunday was my 25th birthday and the entire weekend was full of friends, family, and too much alcohol, coffee, and cake. My gosh, that was too much alcohol, let me tell you.

As has been family tradition, my cousin, Amanda, and I celebrated our birthdays together with the family, as we’re only 3 years and 352 days apart. Amanda turned a whopping 21, which means we can go out and get drunk together (legally) and make fun of all the people crammed into the campus bars.

Me, on the other hand, and as The Partner’s mom reminded me, I’m now half-way to 50.

Twenty-five. Holy shit.

I didn’t have any of those things done when I turned 25: marriage, babies, 2500/sf Colonial home in Concord, MA with a white picket fence, a cat and a dog. So I proceeded to have a complete and utter mental meltdown. That’s when I started to get my ass in gear.

Thirty, on the other hand, was fantastic. The best birthday of my life, thus far.

Here’s hoping you have a happy and healthy birthday with many more yet to come! 25 was a pretty good year for me as I recall. I had a hard time the year I turned 30, but 25 was great.
