GET OUT AND VOTE: 2008 Indiana Presidential Primary, Tuesday May 6th

As discussed with friends, on Tuesday I shall be voting for Barack Obama, which goes contrary to my woman-identified, woman-preferred leanings.

The reason: Hillary Clinton is a MACHINE POLITICIAN (a.k.a. part of the political machine; i.e., just like Mayor Daley of Chicago and Mayor Daley of Chicago-current [a.k.a. Chi-town, a.k.a. The (Da) Region]). Why else do you think large corporations and city politicians are backing Clinton?

Obama at least has no history. Then again:

Whether this will play out good, fair, or neither (or shit-bad), is anybody’s gamble.

Let us contemplate:

1977-1981 James Earl (”Jimmy”) Carter, Jr. (D)
1981-1989 Ronald Reagan (R)
1989-1993 George Walker Bush (R)
1993-2001 William Jefferson Clinton (D)
2001-2009 George William Bush (R)
2009-2012 ?
2012-? ?

Somefuckingthing’s gotta change.

Clinton may be female, may be a woman, but fuck. She’s a Clinton.

Do not misunderstand me.

Obama isn’t any better: he’s running for president as a major Democratic contender. He has the FUNDS to run as a major Democratic contender.

You think I, or any of my friends, or YOU, can run for president—on our meager incomes?

As I said to friends, Obama is THE LESSER OF TWO EVILS.

When we vote between MILLIONAIRES, there is no good choice; THERE IS NO CHOICE.

If voting changed anything, they’d make it illegal. Emma Goldman (June 27, 1869 – May 14, 1940)

There will be no end to the troubles of states, or of humanity itself, till philosophers become kings in this world, or till those we now call kings and rulers really and truly become philosophers, and political power and philosophy thus come into the same hands. —Plato

[...] That whenever any form of government becomes destructive to these ends [equality, unalienable rights, life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness], it is the right of the people to alter or to abolish [that form of government], and to institute new government, laying its foundation on such principles [of equality, unalienable rights, life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness] and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their safety and happiness. —United States of America Declaration of Independence, July 4, 1776

  1. I love that Emma Goldman quote. I personally can’t pick a candidate because I feel they are all overflowing with shit. I’m glad to see your not just voting Hilary because she’s a woman.

  2. Wow, Obama…I never thought you would vote for him..crazy

  3. Oh the joys of reading your ramblings! ;-) ‘Bout time you came to your senses about Hillary. Did you just now learn that she was part of the machine/system/establishment?

I like lots of breaks. Makes the work flow better.

I don’t know if I will be voting for anyone this time. Perhaps Obama in the primary because he’s “better” than Clinton, however, I don’t want to vote for either. Can you do a write in? I don’t believe you can in the primary.

If there is anyone else on the ballot, they’ll get my vote.

  4. @Aaron: My first pick was Dennis Kucinich, just as in 2004. Kucinich has since dropped out (or, was pushed out). There’s Mike Gravel, who was running for the Dem nomination but who has switched to the Libertarian Party (again, Gravel was pushed out of the Dem race as well). For the Green Party there is Cynthia McKinney, who I regrettably keep forgetting about.

I’ll be heading out to vote within the hour, and it’s quite nerve-racking for me.

Then I remember the Goldman quote.

    @Vic: Yea, I know.

@TP: I don’t think you can do write-ins for the primary. You can just pick one, and then come November write-in your favorite person, if you feel you need to take that route.

There should be others on the ballot, at least those from so-called third parties.
