Ridiculous
I taught myself to knit, but I can’t seem to be able to teach myself to crochet.

I don’t know how long it took you to learn to knit, but I have no doubt you’ll get the hang of crochet.
I never graduated past making hats for my dolls but I still have the needle that I used back when I was seven.
Ridiculously sentimental but it’s one of the few things I have from the move from El Salvador to the US and it makes me happy to still have it even though I’ve not made a thing in more than two decades.
Me neither. I just end up with a tangled mess, and nothing even resembling crochet.
Well that class will set you straight! Or is it knotted? Or looped? Or whatever crochet resembles.
@Pea: I think it probably took me a week to learn to do the knit stitch, then another week to learn to purl. Now I’m at the point where I can teach others to knit, so it’s frustrating not being able to pick up on crochet as easily. It’s just one damn needle! Just one!
I don’t think I’ll be using crochet to make any clothing items, as crochet takes up 1/3 more yarn than knitting, and that’s a horrible waste as good quality yarn costs lots of money. I need every inch of yarn I can get! But, I am really enamored with the toys you can make with crochet. Such as the Amigurumi stuffed dolls. See Flickr for Amigurumi. Aren’t they awesome?!
@Amanda: River Knits is having a Learn to Crochet class June 10th. I signed up for it yesterday.
@TP: Crochet is, I believe, like knitting; I’ll be making lots of loops. So, it’ll set me loopy. Hm.
Well, don’t get too loopy! You may never untangle.
those are really cute!
makes me think I should put that needle to its intended use again.
think i got time to learn and make a bunch to give away as christmas presents??
Pea, let’s hope there’s time to learn and make them, because some xmas gifts are what I had in mind!
Do they have an online sign up, or do you need to go in?
You need to go in to sign up. Her hours are limited (latest is 6:30pm on Tuesdays, otherwise it’s 5pm, or 3 on Saturdays), so if you need me to go in for you, let me know!
