Posting is a bit paltry. I’ve got a media analysis paper, a critical review, a Spanish portfolio, and my Seminar thesis proposal to whip out, all by the 26th. Total ’round-and-about 20 pages. I can do this shit.

When I’m not pulling my hair out over my academic choices, I’ve got news to keep me company. What’ll y’all have? (http://www.cbc.ca/cp/world/060414/w041454.html)* More excuses and justifications of a government not being controlled by the citizens? Whispers of nuclear war? Call for a national day of action set for May 1st? How about an “accural-based net operating cost” of $760 BILLION for 2005?

This list can go on.

Instead of thinking and talking about and attempting to come up with solutions to our problems, I’ve got folks emailing me about how to find some pair of zippered pants Sacha Baron Cohen wore one day as an <s>outfit</s> costume on his comedy hour, Da Ali G Show. I’ve got classmates asking me about such-and-such teevee shows.

Teevee shows?

The “turn on, tune in, and drop out” crowd had it all wrong: turn off, tune in, and give a fuck.

George survived his bout of explosive diarrhea and is back to his regular pooping schedule. Now we just need to steam-clean our carpets. Eew.

I survived my two-day paper-writing marathon last week with a smidgeon of success. The five pages for feminist theory took about three hours to <s>bullshit</s> compile while the four-page social theory analysis paper took roughly four hours.

When The Partner came home from Indianapolis Friday night, we were both too tired to go out and the partner needed to recuperate from his two previous nights of drinking. I think we went to bed shortly before ten. Saturday… Saturday we did get together with my cousin and her partner at his place. I got almost-embarrassingly shit-faced on White Russians with Kahlua Especial (70 proof!) and when his roommate came home with his partner, the six of us sat around with (http://www.disbealig.com/) Da Ali G Show in the background, talked politics (although my words of venom directed at our current state of affairs were a bit slurred by that point) and everyone had a good laugh at my need to write everything down so I wouldn’t forget. I’d say I was more than a bit belligerent.

On Sunday I came up with decent responses to three readings from feminist theory for the journal entries that were due Monday and on Monday evening wrote the four-page history paper without actually reading The Road to Serfdom. I found a condensed version and a cartoon version online and read those instead. Yes, I did.

For the next three days I’m on turkey break from classes but, like most people in this country, tomorrow we’ll be spending the afternoon and early evening with family and friends and eating too much food. The remaining few weeks of school should go much more smoothly, although I have a 4-to-5-page paper on historical and/or critical perspectives on feminist theory due December 1st and a 5-to-8-page semester research paper on theorists and/or theories and/or aspects of feminist theory (I obviously have yet to plan it) due December 15th, with a presentation somewhere in-between. WTF? This class is giving me panic attacks, people. PANIC ATTACKS. So although it’s a break, I’ll most likely be researching through the weekend.

I keep reminding myself: Two weeks and then finals. Two weeks and then finals.
